Participation Guidelines
Movement should feel useful, approachable, and safe. These guidelines explain what to expect in class, how online participation works, and how we handle privacy, recordings, cancellations, and personal responsibility.
Participate at Your Own Pace
Every body is different. You are always encouraged to modify, pause, skip, or stop any movement that does not feel appropriate for you.
Instruction is educational and is not a substitute for medical care. If you have an injury, medical condition, or uncertainty about whether a movement practice is appropriate for you, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Online Participation
Online classes are taught live via Zoom. Please make sure you have enough clear space to move safely and that your equipment, flooring, and surroundings are appropriate for the activity.
Because an instructor cannot observe an online participant from every angle, you remain responsible for choosing movements and variations that feel appropriate for your body.
Cameras & Studio Display
Using your camera is always optional.
Remote participants who choose to turn on video may be shown in gallery view on a TV at the front of the studio so that online and in-person participants can share the class experience.
Appearing on the studio TV is entirely opt-in. Participants who prefer not to appear should simply leave their camera off.
Recording & Privacy
Some classes or instructional sessions may occasionally be recorded for future educational content.
Whenever recording is planned, participants will be informed in advance. Participant video, audio, names, or other identifying information will not intentionally be included in published recorded content without permission.
For ordinary live classes, cameras remain optional.
Physical Adjustments
In-person instruction may include verbal suggestions, demonstrations, and movement options.
Physical contact or hands-on assistance will only be offered with the participant’s consent.
Cancellations & Missed Classes
For online drop-in classes, please cancel in advance when possible so your spot can be made available to someone else.
If a class must be canceled by John Loves Yoga, any paid registration for that class will be refunded or credited toward another session.
The Studio Members
Current unlimited members of The Studio in Darien may participate in John Loves Yoga live online classes at no additional charge.
Membership eligibility may occasionally be verified with The Studio.
Respectful Participation
Classes are intended to be welcoming and comfortable for everyone. Please respect the privacy, personal space, and experience of other participants, whether attending in person or online.
Questions?
If you are unsure how any of these guidelines apply to you, reach out before class. I’d much rather answer a question than have you spend an hour wondering whether you’re doing something “wrong.”
